The first we heard about a Lobo movie making its way toward the silver screen was back when Dwayne The Rock Johnson was teasing a big anti-hero role in a DC movie. It wasn't meant to be, because he eventually signed to become Black Adam in the planned SHAZAM! movie (the actor also revealed that he could appear earlier than that in the DCEU).
Then came total silence on the issue, until another iconic actor teased Lobo. This time it was Danny Trejo, with a post on Twitter – a post which left very little to the imagination. Of course, it was later revealed that this role might be for the Supergirl TV series and not for a big screen blockbuster.

So where do we stand now?
According to The Wrap, Warner Bros. and DC still intend to make a movie with the Main Man as the star. As the website reports, the studio has already hired a writer to pen the upcoming Lobo flick. And that writer is none other than Jason Fuchs, who wrote the critically panned Pan, as well as Wonder Woman.
On a side note, the studio is apparently satisfied with Fuchs' work on Wonder Woman. Otherwise, we can’t think of another reason to hire him again.
The website also reports that Fuchs will start from scratch, even if Brad Peyton previously came up with a draft.
Now, let's move towards the most obvious question - could this be a way for Warner Bros. to ride Deadpool’s coattails? Most believe that it is, especially since nobody had heard anything at all about a Lobo movie after 2012. And, since Deadpool stands now as the most successful X-Men flick in the US, with huge chances of becoming the franchise’s biggest box office hit worldwide, it surely appears so.
What do you think, though?
