While Lex Luthor may be seen by many fans as the worst part of the whole Batman v Superman movie, this doesn't mean that he doesn't play an important part in the whole DCEU. And although Jesse Eisenberg says that he doesn't know what the future holds for the character, that doesn't mean that he has no future at all.
Thus, as it was revealed in the aftermath of the Doomsday battle, Batman pays a visit to Lex Luthor in prison, where he decides not to kill the villain, nor to brand him. But the scene goes longer than we have seen in the theatrical cut. There are spoilers for the Ultimate Cut of Batman v Superman here, so you might want to look away.
Comic Book reports that the exchange between Batman and the villain did take more screen time, during which Lex Luthor reveals that he knows the Dark Knight's hidden identity. Of course, we already knew that, since he did send Bruce Wayne all those letters. But it is surprising for him to reveal that, even if in prison.
Furthermore, Lex Luthor also says that nobody would believe him, if he ever decided to reveal this secret identity, because he passes as being insane in the eyes of the others. However, this backfires when Batman says that special institutions were created in order to help the mentally unstable. According to the website, Batman goes on to say that he’s already arranged for Lex Luthor to be transferred to the Arkham Asylum, where the Dark Knight still has a couple of friends waiting for Superman's nemesis.
Suicide Squad is the DCEU’s next movie, and we will meet all of the bad guys in Arkham. Does that mean that Lex Luthor may cameo in this movie? It certainly appears so. And this is a rumor that debuted when the first casting announcement was made for the next DCEU installment.
Granted, the Dawn of Justice puppeteer won't play too significant a role. However, a cameo is not out of the question. What do you think?
