As Batman v Superman continues to dominate the box office despite being pummeled by the critics, all eyes are now turned towards the future - Justice League Part One, which will be directed by Zack Snyder. This year's blockbuster has dropped quite a few hints about the first ensemble movie coming from DC, particularly about the main baddie.
Thus, Darkseid is certainly coming.
However, as many have said, this move leaves the impression that DC is trying too hard to catch Marvel by bringing its heaviest baddie. And that is why many fans believe that the teases from Batman v Superman won't necessarily lead to the appearance of the New God in the first Justice League film. It would be too early and the character hasn't even been set up.
Small reminder - Zack Snyder also teased Brainiac in Batman v Superman, though these Easter Eggs were much smaller and hidden.
Based on Aquaman's appearance in Batman v Superman and the fact that he didn't seem too happy to see signs of the surface dwellers under the sea, El Mayimbe came up with the scoop that the first Justice League film will be about a war between Atlantis and the Justice League. Take this is a rumor, with quite a bit of salt. El Mayimbe also says that Geoff Johns, who is one of the masterminds behind the DCEU, penned the Throne of Atlantis comic book series, in which Atlantis go to war against the surface dwellers.
In this way, the first Justice League film will be about this war, while the second one will unite the combatant forces against the bigger threat coming from beyond the stars.
While this is pretty interesting and while a war between Atlantis and the surface dwellers could lead into a Flashpoint storyline, the theory seems a bit too anorexic. And that is because of all the teases from Batman v Superman.
But what do you think?
Will the Justice League fight Atlantis in 2017?
