Justice League Dark – Director Shortlist and Cast Revealed

Justice League Dark's production is in the process of putting its pieces together as the filming of the movie is set to start in early 2016. The movie lost its previous director Guillermo Del Toro but he left behind a brilliant script that will supposedly be used in the making of Justice Dark League.

Following Del Toro's departure, many feared that Justice League Dark will die, but latest rumors bring into attention a shortlist of directors courted for the movie. JoBlo disclosed the list made up of directors who have experience with the horror genre, and Justice League Dark is supposed to have a dark and supernatural resonance.

The directors eyed for Justice League Dark are Fede Alverez (Evil Dead), and the filmmaking team behind Big Bad Wolves, Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado. They all have a solid grasp of the dark and morbid genre and this might fit right with Del Toro's script.

What about the cast?

The characters and the cast of Justice League Dark

This Justice League team will feature members that are less known, supernatural superheroes that are mystical and weird. Supposedly, the main villain will be Anton Arcane, a mad scientist whose obsession with immortality pushes him to create a team of diabolical creatures that will, of course, face the Justice League. Very recent rumors from Heroic Hollywood reported that in the role of Anton Arcane we might see Ben Mendelsohn (The Dark Knight Rises, next year's Rogue One).

Other characters that will appear in the superhero flick are John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna, The Demon Etrigan, and Madame Xanadu. Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor are the frontrunners for the role of John Constantine, but latest buzz from Latino Review named Farrell in the role of Constantine and McGregor for the role of Jason Blood/The Demon. Monica Bellucci is the first in line for the role of Madame Xanadu, while Ron Perlman remains as the primary choice for Swamp-Thing.

Justice League Dark is a production determined to become something great and different. The focus is not on the superheroes with whom we are so used like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. Justice League Dark is more of a Suicide Squad kind of comic book movie, marking a detachment from the past, where most of the live-action movies focused on Batman and Superman.

The releasing date has not been set but the filming of the Justice League Dark start in early 2016.
