Suicide Squad is currently one of the key concerns for DC and Warner Bros as the movie is stands as the third installment in the newly formed DC Cinematic Universe and the first one beyond Man of Steel franchise. The intentions to craft the David Ayer movie into a real big thing can be comprehended from the list of cast it has confirmed already; Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie and Viola Davis together don't make a small venture!
Now, there seems to be another actor ready to join them in April when shooting starts! It's 2014 RoboCop reboot's title role cast Joel Kinnaman, according to both Latino Review and The Wrap, who will fly to Toronto with the other big guns of the Suicide Squad team! What role is he going to play? That's not just a lead role, but also the role of a leader!
RoboCop As Rick Flagg!
Yup, the 35-year-old Swedish actor is reported to be playing the role of the Suicide Squad leader, Rick Flagg! Tom Hardy had been previously signed for the role but he left it all of a sudden leaving questions on his pretty old relationship with Warner Bros that developed with the role of Bane in Christopher Nolan's final Batman venture, The Dark Knight Rises. Jake Gyllenhaal was approached but he had passed on the role. Later, we heard the names of Joel Edgerton and Jon Bernthal considered for the role but maybe RoboCop has defeated them in the race, somehow! However,m we haven’t had any official confirmation as yet.
Joel Kinnaman: A Smart Fit?
It's an obvious fact that Joel Kinnaman isn't as celebrated as Tom Hardy or even Jake Gyllenhaal. His only Hollywood major venture RoboCop hasn't impressed many. But hardly anyone would blame the actor for the movie's shortcomings; rather Joel might be considered as one of few things in the movie that worked really well. Even if his portrayal of Alex Murphy couldn't impress you, his portrayal of Detective Stephen Holder in the AMC series The Killing might have done it.
Rick Flagg isn't a very popular character among the comic book fans but as the leader of a villainous gang with members like The Joker, Harley Quinn and Deadshot, the role obviously demands a talented actor with a strong screen presence. Well, Joel Kinnaman as the Suicide Squad leader seems at least not bad if not so great! What say guys?
