Jared Leto on DCEU Departure Rumors

Warner Bros. has announced a couple new movies over the past few days. Surprisingly, one was a Joker origin story set in the 1980s that will be the first in a line of DC live-action films set outside of the DCEU. So, taking the time setting into consideration, the Joker will be played by someone other than Jared Leto. The other announced movie was a Suicide Squad spin-off featuring Harley Quinn and the Joker.

But it was also reported that Jared Leto is expected to return to the DCEU for both Suicide Squad 2 and Gotham City Sirens, neither of which has received a release date. Since the two Joker films were announced, people have begun to speculate that Leto would no longer be a part of the shared universe.

After all, the actor didn’t hesitate to express his disenchantment over how Suicide Squad turned out.

But the actor was quick to dismiss the rumors almost as soon as they appeared:

No, there’s so much hype and bullsh– about that, I think it’s just a fun thing to talk about. Even when [Suicide Squad] came out, there was so much misrepresentation about what went down, about the method acting crap. It’s just that 90 percent of it was not even true. It just takes on a life of its own.

[Filming Suicide Squad] was an incredible experience, everyone was amazing. Margot Robbie [is] one of the nicest people, and one of the best actresses I’ve ever worked with. I really loved working with her.

I thought the scenes we did together were some of the most fun I’ve ever had on a set before. But everything is great in that world, and I’m really proud to be a part of it (via CBM).
