Aquaman was announced in 2014, along with a number of other DC Extended Universe projects. At that time, it was one of the least interesting films on the list. But fast forward a couple of years, and it’s become one of next year’s most anticipated releases.
The change was brought about by the film’s marketing campaign, as carried out by the stars (Jason Momoa in particular) and the director, who worked hard to paint it as an extremely fun and interesting movie to make. We still don't know how the end result will look, but everyone had so much fun on the set that it looks most promising.
After some delays, director James Wan and stars Jason Momoa and Amber Heard announced that principal photography for Aquaman had wrapped:
Holy mackerel, you scampi serious – that's finally a principal photography WRAP on Aquaman!! Thank You to an awesome cast and crew. pic.twitter.com/CqytboeaJJ

The sole DCEU movie scheduled for release in 2018, Aquaman will hit theaters on December 21.
