Since there are so many superhero cameos in Batman v Superman, can the fans hope to catch a glimpse of the Green Lantern this year? Well, no, they can’t, as producer Charles Roven says when talking about the future of the DCEU. According to him, the earliest the fans will see any of the Green Lantern superheroes will be in 2019, when Justice League Part 2 arrives:
Every beat of the movie is not yet worked out. So there's the possibility that he may or may not be in Justice League 2. For now, we felt that we were introducing enough characters that the best possible place we could put Green Lantern is some introduction in Justice League 2, or barring that, a movie after.
So, according to the producer, the studio won’t actually hurry into throwing all the main superheroes into the mix. If it won't be in 2019, Green Lantern (and any of the others, for that matter) will certainly appear in 2020, when the Green Lantern Corps is scheduled for release.
To be noted, one of the latest rumors concerning Batman v Superman is that Hal Jordan will make an appearance in the movie, just as a simple drone pilot. Dan Amboyer is playing that still unnamed character - but, in the light of what Charles Roven said, the safest bet is that the actor will be just an extra.
This isn't all, though, since Greg Silverman (creative development president) says that the fans would rather wait for some more, until the right formula is found, rather than have another dud such as the 2011 one:
[Green Lantern] is an incredible character. He's actually multiple incredible characters. There's real opportunity there. We didn't do a great job on that first Green Lantern movie. This is a character who deserves to be treated in the same way that Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman are being treated now, which is with great reverence. I guess I can say to the Green Lantern fans: if they can be patient with us, I think they'll be really happy.
