Zack Snyder and all of the other masterminds behind the DCEU have repeatedly stated that the fans of Green Lantern will have to wait until 2020 to see their favorite superhero (or superheroes, for that matter) on the big screen again. And the reason for the wait is that the first attempt by Warner Bros. to bring the character to the big screen was a bomb, both with critics and at the box office.
Up until just recently, the fans expected a release date of June 19, 2020 for the Green Lantern Corps. On that date, it would have been up against just one Pixar animation movie (This was a big deal, though, since Pixar's animations are always successful at the box office). But now the fans will have to wait a bit longer.
Thus, The Wrap reports that Warner Bros. made some changes to the original slate, moving the Green Lantern Corps to the 24th of July, about two weeks after a still untitled Marvel movie (suddenly, going up against Pixar doesn't seem so bad). Since this is the second change made to the Green Lantern movie (the first one was the title, to include more members of the corps), should we be worried?
In other news, it is now official that Warner Bros. will release an event film on the 25th of December 2018. Previously, the studio had announced two more (untitled) DC films for the October 5, 2018 and November 1, 2019. Seeing that this new December 2018 release will go against Avatar 2 and an unnamed Disney live action flick, and will follow the release of the animated Spider-Man movie, what event film would Warner Bros. be releasing on such a busy date? Is it a superhero flick? Least likely…
Lastly, the Warner Bros. Godzilla vs. King Kong movie will be released on the 29th of May 2020.
