While Ben Affleck is working on the script for The Batman with Geoff Johns, we’re speculating about which characters might appear in the movie. But it seems like it’s safer to assume that an iconic character from Batman comics won't show up in the DC Extended Universe installment. It's the Caped Crusader's notorious squeeze Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, who will likely have to sit out The Batman.
According to a recent tweet by Fandango managing editor Erik Davis, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and American Sniper star Sienna Miller is interested in playing Catwoman. But when she shared her desire with her Live By Night co-star/director Ben Affleck, he informed her that the character is not in The Batman's script. Check out the tweet below!
Sienna Miller told me tonight that she wants to play Catwoman in Affleck’s Batman movie. “She’s not in the script but I wanna write her in!”

Before you start taking the "wanna write her in" part of Sienna's statement too seriously, you should check out Erik's follow-up tweet, in which he suggests that we shouldn’t take her word "as bond"!
An update to my Sienna Miller tweet, because I see it’s becoming a news story: she is not writing the script, so don’t take her word as bond

Considering the fact that Catwoman wasn't introduced right away in Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan's Batman movies, her absence in The Batman shouldn't come as a huge surprise. However, while those movies started off with Bruce Wayne's early days as the Dark Knight, Affleck's version of the character was introduced in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as the one who has been donning the cape and cowl for twenty years. So, we can at least expect Catwoman to be mentioned in The Batman if they plan to use the character in future.
Sienna Miller isn't the first actress to want to play Catwoman in the DCEU. Anne Hathaway, who portrayed Selina Kyle in Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, revealed a month ago that she would love to portray the character again. And Selina isn't the only Batman comics character whose appearance in The Batman is unlikely. Another on-and-off romantic interest of the superhero, Talia Al Ghul, is reportedly not a part of the movie.
