While Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has just released, Ben Affleck might have already started working on a standalone movie as the Caped Crusader. Earlier this month, the actor/director confirmed that a Batman solo movie is already in the works, but he wasn’t quite affirmative about directing the movie.
However, while speaking to DC All Access (via Comic Book) recently, Ben revealed that he’s working on a project, along with DC Comics' Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns! He said, “You know, he and I are working together on something, and I really am excited about it, and I love him, he’s the best.”
Okay, he hasn't disclosed specifically what their project is - but what could it be, other than a Batman solo movie? Last summer, the first hint about a Batman solo movie did suggest that Ben Affleck would co-write the script with Geoff Johns, along with directing and acting in it.
Was Jesse Eisenberg originally considered for a Batman villain's role?
Zack Snyder recently revealed that two Batman villains - The Joker and The Riddler - were close to being in Batman v Superman. A few days before that, the director revealed that Jesse Eisenberg was originally considered for a role other than Lex Luthor. And now, from what producer Charles Roven says to Hey U Guys (via Movie Web), it seems that the role Jesse auditioned for was that of The Riddler! Here's what he said:
We don’t want to talk about what the role was. But it was more like a cameo. But he was so good in the little thing that he did, it was really a conversation that we started to talk about. It would be great to contemproize Lex. Make him different from the Lexes that we’ve seen in the past. But still also make him believable. And we felt that Jesse was a good choice.
Obviously it isn't strong enough evidence to confirm that Jesse was originally up for the role of The Riddler, but doesn't seem like a very wild guess, does it?
Batman v Superman beats Avengers 2 at Thursday Night Previews!
With a $27.7 million haul, Batman v Superman has defeated Avengers: Age of Ultron in Thursday night previews by just a hair, reports Box Office Mojo. The second installment of Earth's Mightiest Heroes brought in around $26.6 million before kicking things off with a $191.2 million opening weekend in North America. It's the sixth largest Thursday preview number of all time.
According to China Box Office, the second DC Extended Universe installment has gathered a massive $20.3 million in its opening day in the Chinese territory. This means that the movie has the sixth biggest opening day for a Hollywood venture in China. Avengers 2 is one of the top five - third to be exact – which had a $33.9 million opening day in the country considered to be Hollywood's second biggest market.
