This is a never-ending story. And while some of us may be biased, there are some very legitimate reasons as to why DC could top Marvel after the new shared universe lifts off the ground.
Sure enough, Marvel is the one true king. How come? Because if it wasn't for Marvel and Kevin Feige to come with this idea of a shared universe, then"¦ Or is it so? Well, we can't know right now, because Marvel did it first.
But all kings must fall. And where are 3 reasons why DC will be the next one.
-
More iconic heroes
When Marvel started its shared universe, they started only with second-tier superheroes: Iron Man, Thor and Captain America. And they did so because the rights to the better known Spider-Man, Fantastic Four and X-Men were sold to other studios.
Sure enough, at this moment, everybody knows who the aforementioned characters are. And that is because Marvel has done such a great job in telling stories that connect with each other and building towards an epic conclusion. Sure enough, the characters were portrayed to perfection too - now, Tony Stark is Robert Downey Jr. and the other way around.
However, since DC hasn't sold any of its properties, their shared universe will start with their top tier superheroes: Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. Everybody knows what superheroes are in the DC Trinity and it can be expected that, with the right marketing campaign, even more will be attracted (obviously, if this is possible).
Furthermore, by securing the services of actors such as Ben Affleck, Jared Leto, Jesse Eisenberg, Dwayne The Rock Johnson, as well as others, DC seems to have a better start than Marvel did. DC's actors are better known and have better credentials.

A fresh start and a new take on the genre
By now, it can be said that Marvel is showing signs of slowing its pace. Don't just jump to point out that it isn't! Slowing the pace doesn't necessarily mean that its stories aren't compelling or that the quality of the storytelling has decreased (although this is debatable).
It means, instead, that Marvel has started its shared universe building on the idea that technology can explain all. Thus, the magical element has yet to appear and we are wondering how Doctor Strange will tackle this conundrum.
Furthermore, and we believe that everybody has noticed this, building the MCU and introducing important players always relies on origin stories. And this tends to become a bit dull from one point on, especially if we are considering what was said in the above paragraph.
DC has a completely different agenda. For the moment, of course, we've only had a single origin story - the one of Superman. And since the next movie will bring the DC Trinity on the big screens, we doubt that we will see another origin story, any time soon.
It can be argued that Wonder Woman will have hers - although we are doubting this, even if the 2017 film will take place during WWII. But as far as Cyborg, Flash, Aquaman and Green Lantern are concerned, they will definitely jump in the action without wasting a couple of hours to tell us how they become the superheroes they are.
We're saying that because these DC characters will have their solo films only after Justice League Part One will be released.
And there is also another important element, pertaining to the novelty of the DC Movie Universe. And that is the fact that this new universe can be explained by other means than just the scientific/technological ones. Enchantress is set to appear in Suicide Squad and, as far as we know, her comic book origins will be kept.

Lastly, DC has another ace in the whole
And that is the visual style and the general feel of the movies. If Man of Steel is indeed the cornerstone of the DC Movie Universe, then it is pretty clear that DC will be completely different than anything Marvel has presented until now.
Even if it was the first film in this continuity, DC didn't play it safe and got its hands dirty. Sure enough, this has raised a lot of criticism from both the fans and the non-fans. However, this comes to show that DC has what it takes in order to become something else. This comes to show that DC and Warner Bros do have a plan and they will stick to it.
Sure enough, it can be expected for some rescheduling to appear even in this first phase, if we may call it so (with several rumored movies, such as Guillermo del Toro's Justice League Dark). But still, this doesn't mean that the plan isn't there.
As a conclusion
As a conclusion, we can say that this can only mean good things for the fans of superhero movies. And that this isn't any longer about Marvel vs. DC. This is now about the one studio that comes with the most entertaining movies and the best storylines. This is just about a completion to release the best product.
And you too know who will be the main beneficiary"¦
So what do you think? Do you still want for DC to fail? Or do you also want for the wheel to spin and for both Marvel and DC to compete, taking each other's spot, time and time again, on the first place?
