While the embargo hasn't been lifted just yet, David Ayer's Suicide Squad is tracking for a $140-$150 million opening in the US. And this is huge for an unknown DC property - and way better than Guardians of the Galaxy, who made "just" a bit more than $94 million in its opening weekend. The director knows that Suicide Squad will be a hit - and, in his happiness, he might have let himself carried away a bit too much.
At the world premiere in New York, David Ayer echoed one of the fans from the audience. In what sense?
Well, the rivalry between Marvel and DC is generated only by the audiences (and the occasional Zack Snyder, who calls the Marvel flicks the flavor of the week). Thus, the fans can go to great (and sometime illegal and morally questionable) lengths in order to support their favorite comic book movie universe.
The studios themselves can't argue - if a superhero flick doesn't meet the expectations and is a flop, this could mean disaster for both studios. In the same way, when a movie performs very well with the critics and at the box office, this can be only a positive sign.
This happened at the New York premiere of Suicide Squad, when a fan from the audience yelled, “F**k Marvel!” To which an excited David Ayer replied in the same way: “F**k Marvel!” As said, he got carried away - in a way, he revealed himself as being also a fan of DC comics, which is actually a great thing. But the words are still inexcusable…

Obviously, he did apologize later on Twitter, admitting that it was uncool on his part. Especially since he, just like the people at Marvel, is a moviemaker.
Sorry about getting caught up in the moment and saying f*ck Marvel. Someone said it. I echoed. Not cool. Respect for my brother filmmakers.

This being said, we cannot wait for Suicide Squad to be a hit!
