Carla Gugino and Brad Peyton have been, on occasion, on DC's radar. Peyton should have directed Lobo, but the project was abandoned.

Earlier this month, Peyton made his opinion known as to why Lobo didn't happen: DC prioritized differently their slate until 2020.

Carla Gugino is no stranger to superhero movies either: she's played in DC's Watchmen (2009) and lent her voice to Kelor (Man of Steel, 2013). Add to that the fact she also starred in Frank Miller's Sin City, which complements her list of credentials.

Now, Carla Gugino and Brad Peyton have crossed paths in San Andreas, a venture which also included Dwayne Johnson as lead man. The latter, however, was hooked by DC: he's going to play Black Adam in Shazam!, though he was initially rumored for the canceled Lobo.

This is more than wishful thinking, and, in my opinion, both Carla Gugino and Brad Peyton have real chances to strike a deal with DC.
