On Wednesday night, Ben Affleck has introduced during Jimmy Kimmel Live, a brand new full length trailer for Batman V Superman, and it looks awesome. While the first trailer gave us a glimpse at Batman and Superman's final shot, this second Batman V Superman trailer is spicier and more detailed.
The trailer begins with the arrival of Bruce Wayne at a party held by Lex Luthor, and here's the first time Batman meets Superman. They are not very excited about it, except Luthor, he's delighted.
"Maybe it's the Gotham city in me"”I have a bad history with freaks dressed as clowns," Bruce Wayne replies to Clark Kent's reproach according to which "Civil liberties are being trampled on in your city, people living in fear." And so the tension between the two superheroes starts rising, slowly but bitter from both sides.
"Bruce Wayne meets Clark Kent. Ha! I love it!" So honors Lex Luthor the meeting between the Son of Krypton and Bat of Gotham at the party he's holding. And this is how we get to see a humorous, lighter scene in the DC Extended Universe. It's uncommon for DC movies to be a little brighter, yet Lex Luthor's humor, and the irony surrounding the two superheroes diminish the grimace on our faces.
Batman V Superman trailer breaks the DC “no comedy” policy, yet…
However, the trailer goes on with a darker tone, when we learn that Luthor's purpose is to bring Kent and Wayne against each other, and a crime fighting spree begins. Winged creatures make an appearance, which confirms the hint at Batman using drones, and the Batwing takes flight against Superman.
Lex Luthor continues his humorous and cynical monologue in the background, charging a war between two men's heroic alter egos – "The greatest gladiator match in the history of the world: Son of Krypton versus Bat of Gotham!"
The trailer is also displaying what’s supposed to be General Zod's corpse that served as genetic material for Doomsday's creation, finally confirmed as main film’s villain. The monster appearance generates what everyone expects to see: The Trinity.
This latest Batman V Superman trailer is definitely a joy for the fans. There are a lot of details, the story starts shaping and elements like Bruce Wayne's changed voice, Lex Luthor's surprising comic chops and Wonder Woman saving the day, make the trailer worthwhile.
