Batman v Superman: More Details on the Darkseid Nightmare

The web is now filled with speculations about the Darkseid tease from Batman v Superman, revealed in the latest Empire Magazine issue. And while we believed that it will be a flash-forward scene taken from the actual Justice League movie, the latest issue of Empire makes it clear that it is actually set in the same dream sequence in which Batman is unmasked by Superman (and in which, apparently, the parademons are also featured).

The magazine explains, thus, that this particular scene takes place in the fictional nation of Kandahar (is it really the Afghan city, or the fictional Kahndaq, the homeland of Black Adam?): “Batman…shouldering a machine gun, walks unbowed through the blizzard to greet an armored juggernaut pulling up in a desert compound that’s walled with rusty containers.” And that is about all that it's said - so it isn't too much, really.

However, we can begin speculating how Batman has those visions from the first place, with that particular symbol decorating the wasteland. And the biggest possibility is that this Caped Crusader knows about the parademons, about the symbol, but doesn't know about Darkseid himself (maybe he has seen the parademons and knows that they aren't from this world).

So it isn't such a big stretch for Batman to believe that there is a connection between those parademons and Superman (another alien, who brought destruction on one of the biggest cities). And yes, this is what happens in Justice League: Origin and the adaptation Justice League: War.

Another possibility is that this Batman v Superman dream sequence is induced by an exterior character. One such character could be Kahina the Seer, one of Aquaman's allies, who has the ability to see in the future. Of course, in the comics she cannot enter the minds of other people - but we can guess that this isn't such a big a change.

To be noted, we wouldn't mention this possibility of if we didn't suspect the character is in Batman v Superman from the first place. Back in 2014, a set pic revealed that someone was actually assigned to play her. But you can check out the pic below.

Lastly, there is one more possibility, which could explain further more why Wonder Woman chose to join Batman and Superman. According to this theory, Wonder Woman already knows about the existence of Darkseid (since she is about 5 000 years old). And she senses that the ruler of Apokolips has sent his soldiers on Earth. So it wouldn't be a stretch for her to want to alert Batman about this.

Maybe Darkseid has something to do with Doomsday as well...

However, Batman misreads her visions and believes that Superman is responsible for the destruction he sees in his dreams.

What do you think, though?

Which one of these theories better suits Batman v Superman?
