Is this installment of Honest Trailers the final nail in the coffin for Batman v Superman? Or is it an acknowledgment of the movie's very few amazing scenes? You know what - it is what it is, a comedy show, and it cannot do any right or wrong to the movie. Everybody knows that Batman v Superman is the most divisive comic book movie in the history of the genre. But, with all its ups and downs, it managed to do something no comic book movie has managed before: set up an entire cinematic universe.
So yes - Martha was the most epic fail, while Lex Luthor's plan is the most convoluted ever, surpassing even the cheesiest of the James Bond villains. The entire Justice League was squeezed into unnecessary cameos, while the big baddie of Batman v Superman seemed to be taken from both Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Lord of the Rings.
But at the same time, Ben Affleck proved to everybody that casting can work, despite what the fans believed beforehand. And Wonder Woman gave us the first true superheroine of the big screen. So Batman v Superman is what it is: a total success disguised as a total failure.
So check out the Screen Junkies' Honest Trailer for the movie that had no chance of meeting all of the expectations:
Well, at least Suicide Squad looks good, right?
Anyway, you can now purchase your own Batman v Superman Ultimate Edition. With 30 minutes of extra footage, it is a definite improvement over the theatrical version. However, you shouldn't really expect this to become your favorite comic book movie. You shouldn't even expect it to become your favorite DC flick.
