Aquaman is Set to Begin Pre-Production this Month!

Aquaman movie to move into pre-production later this month!

Warner Bros. may have bagged more than $1.6 billion from 2016’s DC Extended Universe installments - Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad - but neither of the movies could escape the wrath of the critics. At this point, the studio is looking forward to their 2017 and 2018 DCEU ventures, hoping that those movies will impress both audiences and critics.

Wonder Woman and Justice League, the two 2017 releases, have already moved to post-production after filming at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, England, and at various other locations this year. Now, it's time for the movies of 2018 - The Flash, Aquaman, and an untitled installment (highly speculated to be The Batman) - to head to production.

The Flash movie recently witnessed the departure of its director for the second time, and it’s speculated that the movie's production and release might be delayed, as the studio has yet to find a replacement for Rick Famuyiwa. But Aquaman director James Wan doesn't seem to be going anywhere, so that project should kick off production as planned.

And according to the Gold Coast Bulletin, the first standalone movie for the King of the Seven Seas is all set to move into pre-production on the lot at Village Roadshow Studios on Australia’s Gold Coast.

Thor: Ragnarok recently wrapped up filming at the same location, and Aquaman will have to wait until the epic sets used for the Marvel Cinematic Universe installment are completely dismantled. According to the outlet, cameras will finally begin rolling on the DCEU venture in early 2017.

At the moment, we only know about three cast members for Aquaman – Jason Momoa as the titular superhero, Amber Heard as Mera, and Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko. We can expect more names to be added to the movie's cast roster in the next few weeks.
