Warner Bros. seems to be shaping up the Aquaman cast roster. Most recently, the studio has been in negotiation with Temuera Morrison to star as the titular superhero's father.
Following his brief cameo in last year's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Jason Momoa's Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman, is set to return in Justice League later this year. In 2018, the King of the Seven Seas will get his standalone movie. With filming expected to begin in April in Australia, the studio has been looking at actors for various roles in the DC Extended Universe installment.
It was recently revealed that they approached The Get Down star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II to play the villainous Black Manta and The Hours star Nicole Kidman to play Aquaman's mother, Queen Atlanna.
The Hollywood Reporter claims that the studio is currently in talks with Temuera Morrison, who is best known for portraying bounty hunter Jango Fett in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. If the talks are successful, Morrison would play Arthur Curry’s father, Tom Curry, in the October 5, 2018 release. While the superhero's mother is an Atlantean, his father is an ordinary human being.
This would be the second time as a DC Comics character for the Kiwi actor. He portrayed Abin Sur the 2011 Ryan Reynolds starrer Green Lantern. Morrison's other notable acting credits include Once Were Warriors, Speed 2: Cruise Control, Vertical Limit, Couples Retreat, and Moana.
Furious 7 director James Wan will be calling the shots for Aquaman. Wan, Geoff Johns, and Will Beall penned the movie’s script. The cast roster includes Magic Mike XXL star Amber Heard as Mera, Spider-Man trilogy star Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, and Watchmen star Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master.
