As far as the future DC movies are concerned, the announcement of Aquaman is still the most surprising one. Furthermore, having him revealed alongside the DC Trinity makes us wonder even more how important his role can be in the future DC movies.
His first pic was revealed quite a while ago, with the caption Unite the Seven, a caption which has sparked numerous debates amongst the fans, with the strongest possibility being Unite the Seven Seas. Also, there is the other alternative, as in Unite the Seven founding members of the Justice League (with Martian Manhunter replaced by Cyborg).
Well, here is an interesting story.
Aquaman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Obviously, the Aquaman pic was released during the ongoing marketing campaign for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The most recent rumor concerning his appearance in the movie says that he will have just a cameo - and not even that, we might add.
In this way, all that we will see of the Atlantean will be his hand slapping his hand of a containment chamber, where he is held a prisoner by Lex Luthor. This may be true - however, would they have released a pic with him, full size, just for this?
Furthermore, the same rumor says that the Flash will also cameo - he is just a blur on surveillance footage, as the speedster is stopping a robbery. Why didn't the studio release a pic with Flash too? This rumor may be true, but we really doubt it.
Now, we all saw the Comic Con trailer for Batman v Superman. And we might add that it was awesome - on the next page, find out what Aquaman Easter-Egg was hidden in it!
Aquaman - in the trailer
We've talked about this when the trailer appeared. In it, there is a quick shot of someone (most likely a boy) diving, or rather being pulled down by a chain. In any case, he is in Aquaman's domain. This was a blink and you’ll miss it scene, which must have had the fans of the character on the edge of their seats.
Nonetheless, the boy appears to be diving towards something, with the boy's hand actually reaching towards that something. It may be a rock - but it may be not. It would have no point to show something like this in a trailer which made it clear that every shot counts (we are talking about how Zack Snyder established the continuity between Man of Steel and Batman v Superman).
So that something cannot be a rock. And it certainly looks as if it actually has rock-hard (so to speak) muscles. It certainly looks as if there is a hood/bag over the head of a very muscular man. Is this our first look at Aquaman, in (stationary) action? It may be so. And here is where things get interesting.
On the next page, the reason why his head his covered!
Aquaman - disgraced
A very plausible reason for Aquaman to have his head covered would be that he was exiled by his own people. The reason is simple: he was unable to protect the oceans from Zod's World Engine. He is now a castaway and he is now, most likely, looking for revenge.
And his revenge can be only against the surface-dwellers, with Superman bearing the most of the fault.
In the comics, Aquaman has attacked the Justice League - could this also be the case? If it is so, then the Unite the Seven caption means both Unite the Seven Seas against the Surface Dwellers, as well as Unite the Justice League to face the Atlanteans. And this surely gets us excited.
Of course, there can be another explanation also - check out on the next page!
Aquaman - the boy
We all know that Zack Snyder loves flashbacks - so this might as well be one. A flashback of Arthur Curry discovering a fellow Atlantean - or just simply discovering that he can resist underwater without an oxygen tank. This can also be a possibility.
As it can be that it is just a rock after all, with an unknown and unimportant boy diving.
This can't be it. An all-out war between Aquaman and Justice League must happen. They wouldn't have shown the menacing Jason Momoa uniting the seven seas if it wasn't the case.
