When Zack Snyder decided to shoot cameos for the remaining Justice League heroes in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, he didn't have time to perfect the CGI. This is extremely obvious in the movie’s Aquaman cameo, which was shot in an actual tank filled with water. Fans were quick to spot this, along with the fact that Jason Momoa was holding his breath, which is more than unusual for an Atlantean.
Snyder's approach to underwater sequences changed in Justice League, and he used CGI for the water. We caught glimpses of it in the trailer and in one magnificent behind-the-scenes shot.
Aquaman director James Wan will use the same technique, in the sense that the actors won't spend too much time in the water. The movie is currently being shot in Australia, although it’s safe to assume that Jason Momoa isn't on the set, since he has to participate in Joss Whedon's Justice League reshoots.
However, others are in training for the film! Case in point, the first clip featuring Dolph Lundgren on the Aquaman set has been posted online. The actor had previously teased his intense training on his Facebook page, but this is an actual clip from the set.
And he’s learning to swim with grace, but without physically being in the water:

And you can't say that these scenes won't be graceful"¦
In Aquaman, Dolph Lundgren portrays King Nereus, a recent addition to the New 52 DC comic book universe. In the comics, he’s best known for his relationship with Mera, which puts him at odds with Arthur Curry.
Aquaman will be released on the 21st of December 2018.
