In the fourth Transformers installment, Mark Wahlberg played the role of the protective father Cade Yeager, a Texan inventor and mechanic. Last year, the actor suggested that he would return for Transformers 5, but this time he confirmed. In a short interview that you can watch below, Wahlberg was asked if he’s going to be in the next Transformers movie, and his answer was a firm “Yes!”
Whether you liked or not Transformers: Age of Extinction, the film grossed $1.1 billion at the box office around the world. For the fifth installment, the producers gathered a team of writers who have worked on productions like Iron Man( Art Marcum & Matt Holloway), Ant-Man (Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari), and The Incredible Hulk (Zak Penn).
As the release date of the movie has been changed for 2017 instead of 2016, the studio doesn’t want more delays, and probably that is why Wahlberg’s answer was solid, with no hesitation.
Michael Bay might have changed his mind about Transformers 5
Bay has previously made a statement that clearly suggested he won’t return for Transformers 5. “There’s kind of a new chapter, a new direction in movies I want to make. I have a lot of stories to tell. And it’s about flexing new muscles.” But something made him change his mind and now he’s in talks to direct the movie.
Paramount Pictures International SVP Edward Ryan had confirmed that Transformers 5 release date was slated for June 24, 2016, but as they were so slow with assembling the pieces, the release date moved for 2017.
The plot of Transformers 5 is said to follow two story-lines. One set on Earth with Cade Yaeger trying to save the planet. The other set in space where Optimus Prime helps Yaeger but he has a mission on his own.
It’s up to the director and the team of talented writers to make Transformers 5 better than the previous installment.
