Mads Mikkelsen Says Doctor Strange Has Some Humor!

Mads Mikkelsen talks about humor in Doctor Strange movie!

After watching the first official Doctor Strange trailer, one thing we all became very sure of is that this movie is going to be very different from previous Marvel Cinematic Universe installments. Not only did the background of Marvel Studios logo turn black for the first time, the entire trailer didn't have a single jocular moment! It was all serious and dark.

But from what the lead super villain Mads Mikkelsen says in a recent interview with Digital Spy, it seems that the Doctor Strange movie will have some light-hearted scenes. But it won't be the Danish actor's Kaecilius who delivers the humor. Rather, it's Benedict Cumberbatch's Sorcerer Supreme who has a sense of humor in the Scott Derrickson flick. Here's what Mikkelsen says:

You can’t bring it yourself, if it’s in the script you have to sort of lean into the script that’s already there. There is some. My character is not necessarily carrying too much of it, but Doctor Strange is. There’s a certain darkness in the Doc, and a sense of humor in there, absolutely.

Doctor Strange is a superhero movie that deals with magic and mysticism, and Mikkelsen's character is one of the Masters of Mystic Arts. So, there's obviously a lot of CGI work involved with his character.

During the interview, the Hannibal star made it clear that he didn't have any difficulty working with CGI, as he is not new to it, having worked in "a few movies" that involved its use. The 50-year-old actor explains:

This one was not too bad, the CGI was not in direct interaction with me in my scenes, it was more like the backdrops, the landscapes would be slightly different sometimes, but I didn’t have to interact with it. But I’ve done that before in Clash of the Titans when we were fighting giant monsters. They were obviously not in the film and I was fighting tennis balls, and that I’d say is real acting!
