Kevin Feige Reveals Five-Movie Spider-Man Story Arc

Sony and Marvel obviously have big plans for Spider-Man, but we still have no idea how long the studios will continue to work together. Tom Holland teased a trilogy, but Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal said that their plans don't go beyond a Homecoming sequel. Other than that, it's all speculation, no matter how much fans want Peter Parker to have a long career in the MCU.

During an interview with the Toronto Sun, Feige reiterated that for the moment, the studios are just planning the sequel. However, the Marvel boss added that Spider-Man's MCU movies will trace a complete story-arc for the character:

We are looking at a five-movie story line — Civil War, Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, untitled Avengers, Homecoming 2 — or whatever we end up calling it — as an amazing five-story journey for Peter Parker. In the way that the events of Civil War directly inform the opening of Homecoming and his state of mind as he goes back to high school, so too will the events of the next two Avengers movies as he continues with high school. This original twenty-two-movie arc ends with the untitled Avengers in May of 2019, and then two months later, it will be Peter and Spider-Man that usher us into the aftermath and how things proceed from there.

So, Feige again stressed that Spider-Man will have a major role in the post-Avengers MCU. It's also clear that Parker will continue on as a high school student in the upcoming Avengers flicks, which was teased since the original Homecoming announcement.

Where does that leave us? We have no information about the Homecoming sequel, other than the fact that it will start minutes after Avengers 4. But, according to Tom Holland's Collider interview, we can assume that Homecoming 2 will mark the end of Peter Parker's high school career:

I will be on Spider-Man 2 about mid-July next year. I think the most interesting thing about a young man's life is his journey from being a boy to a man, and imagine seeing that journey while having superpowers. That's something I know I'm definitely excited to explore. I know Kevin and the rest of the team are very excited to explore .

For the moment, we’ll just enjoy Spider-Man: Homecoming, which will be released this Friday July 7.
