Cameras started rolling for Jessica Jones Season 2 earlier this week, followed by an official announcement from Marvel about a major addition to the cast roster: Two-time Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe Award-winning actress Janet McTeer.
The actress enchanted audiences and critics alike with charismatic performances in movies such as Tumbleweeds, Into the Storm, and Albert Nobbs, as well as television shows Damages and The White Queen. The announcement didn’t reveal who her Jessica Jones Season 2 character would be, but it did say that she’ll have "an enormous impact on Jessica's life".
Marvel Television boss Jeph Loeb remarked that the goal for the latest season of the Netflix series is to capture what audiences loved about its inaugural season. He added that the British actress will be "key to achieving that goal". Creator and executive producer Melissa Rosenberg said that McTeer's gravitas and authenticity are "the perfect ingredients" for what they’re trying to create this season.
In addition to Janet McTeer's mysterious character, three others are confirmed for Jessica Jones Season 2: Krysten Ritter's titular superhero, Rachel Taylor's Trish Walker, and Carrie-Anne Moss' Jeri Hogarth. A recent tweet by Wil Traval hints that he may return as Will Simpson, aka Nuke.
The Aussie actor’s tweet mentions that he was flying to New York City, which is where filming for Jessica Jones has begun. Of course, it could be a coincidence. However, the character is significant in the comics, and he’s still alive in the series (unlike David Tennant's Kilgrave), so it could be more than that. Check out his tweet below!
