Infinity War: Winderbaum Teases Spoiler Appearance

As the last cosmic adventure before the Infinity War, Thor: Ragnarok will require one of the most epic Marvel Cinematic Universe endings ever. Set visits revealed that this is exactly how it will happen, paving the way for a confrontation between Thanos and a weakened Avengers team.

That isn't the only Thor: Ragnarok/Avengers: Infinity War connection. Executive producer Brad Winderbaum recently teased a spoiler appearance in next year's Avengers flick that’s essential to the plot of Ragnarok. Read on if you want to know more!

According to Screen Rant, the Thor: Ragnarok producer wasn't sure whether main antagonist Hela would appear in Avengers: Infinity War. However, it’s a tease in itself that the Goddess of Death will survive Ragnarok. Add to this the fact that Winderbaum also teased the fall of Asgard (saying that Earth would be left without allies prior to Thanos’ arrival), and we have a pretty clear idea about how Thor: Ragnarok will end.

Obviously, we always think about the movies as standalones, even if they do set up a movie down the road or pay off something from a previous film. What we hope – if we do our jobs right – is that Hela is one of the best villains we've had; maybe the best, hopefully.

Cate (Blanchett) has been delivering an incredible performance. She's really scary, and really charming. She's very easy to watch, very fun to be around. But very murderous and horrible at the same time. You're right that those are things that Thanos values. But when and how she plays into the future of the universe is uncertain now.

Again, Winderbaum didn’t explicitly say that Hela will emerge victorious (she doesn’t need to win for Asgard to fall). However, the fact that he mentioned that Hela's future would be uncertain after Ragnarok speaks volumes.

To be noted, this interview took place before Avengers: Infinity War began shooting.

We'll learn more when Thor: Ragnarok arrives on November 3, 2017.
