Green Lantern Corps Still Happening, but No Major Updates Ahead!

Green Lantern Corps is still viable, even after Justice League’s substandard box office performance led to an ignominious end for more than one already-announced DC Films project.

Throughout the last several years, we've reported about over a dozen DC Comics-based projects that are in process at Warner Bros. Critics panned Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad, but the movies were nonetheless successful at the box office. Because of that, the studio got away with ignoring the need to focus on quality over quantity, or whatever it was that they were focused on.

But Justice League was a wake-up call. The movie suffered the critics' wrath, and was met with a complete lack of interest from the audience. A film that was expected to easily sail past the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office still hasn't surpassed Man of Steel’s $668 million lifetime gross.

The studio recently brought in a new leader to oversee the DC Films banner. They also scrapped both Deadshot and Lobo, but writer David S. Goyer told  IGN that Green Lantern Corps was still in the cards.

Goyer is writing the script with Justin Rhodes, and at one time was thought to be a contender for the director’s chair. While he said that Green Lantern Corps was "still in the works", he didn't seem to believe that the movie would head into production anytime soon. Asked when we could expect to see any sort of major update on the project, he responded as follows:

I don't know. Who knows, especially with what's currently going on with the DC universe? There's obviously a whole recalibration happening with that right now.
