Rumors do come true! For the last couple of months, we've been coming across rumors and speculation suggesting that Ghost Rider will appear in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4. The last one among those rumors surfaced on the web less than 24 hours ago.
And now, Marvel has officially announced it at San Diego Comic Con International - the fan-favorite supernatural anti-hero is indeed coming to the ABC series!
In an official statement, Jeph Loeb, Marvel Television head honcho and executive producer of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., says (Entertainment Weekly):
Season 4 will unquestionably be the series' biggest, most ambitious story yet, and it all begins with the introduction of one of our greatest legacy characters in Ghost Rider. When the Spirit of Vengeance rides into S.H.I.E.L.D., it'll change everything.
Just as the rumors indicated, the version of Ghost Rider that we will get to see in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is neither Johnny Blaze nor Danny Ketch. It's going to be the Marvel NOW! version of the character introduced in 2014, Robbie Reyes.
Marvel has also announced that Gabriel Luna will portray the Ghost Rider. The 33-year-old actor is best known for playing Tony Bravo on the El Rey Network series Matador and Paco Contreras on the ABC series Wicked City.
He has appeared in big screen ventures like Bernie, Balls Out, Freeheld, and Gravy. He will play a lead role in Transpecos, which hits the theaters in September.
Marvel has also released the first teaser trailer for Ghost Rider on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.! Check it out below!
Unlike Johnny Blaze, Robbie Reyes doesn't ride a chained-up motorcycle. He drives a black classic muscle car.
