Fant4stic: Mads Mikkelsen Walked Out of Audition

You must remember Fox’s attempt to reboot the Fantastic Four franchise. The project ended with a meltdown on the part of director Josh Trank, and the result was a very chaotic movie. If the studio had planned for a trilogy before the release of the film, all such plans have been scrapped. According to the powers that be, there won't be another Fantastic Four movie until the right script and the right creative team are found.

Although the movie was released in 2015, details about its production are still emerging two years later. Most recently, Doctor Strange actor Mads Mikkelsen told Short List that he walked out of an audition for Fant4stic. The actor didn’t say which role he was up for, but we think he would make a great Doctor Doom, given the right script:

I think I walked out on the Fantastic Four . I think I actually said, “I can’t do it. It’s not about you, I’m sorry, this is wrong.” I’ve had tons of them. We’ve all been there. We all show up and it’s a little office room with a desk and some books and they want you to do a scene where you have two lines – maybe not even two lines – maybe just “Bleurgh!” or “Get back!” And you’re hiding behind a palm tree that’s not there. It’s like, “Guys, couldn’t you have picked a different kind of scene to this? This is ing mad.” You feel like an idiot.

Maybe it was for the better that Mads Mikkelsen wasn't in Fant4stic. The Casino Royale actor went on to play the main antagonist in Doctor Strange. He also worked on Disney's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
