Jeph Loeb explains why they picked Robbie Reyes as Ghost Rider for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4!

While a portion of the fandom is excited about the Ghost Rider's arrival in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4, another portion is disappointed with the decision to introduce the Robbie Reyes version of the supernatural anti-hero. They would have preferred to see a Ghost Rider standalone series on Netflix or a solo movie with Johnny Blaze or Danny Ketch.

They could have at least brought either of the two most popular versions of the character to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., if not give the character a standalone show or movie! Why are they using a lesser-known version like Robbie Reyes instead of Johnny or Danny?

Jeph Loeb, one of the executive producers of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., has an answer for that!

Robbie Reyes' relationship with Gabe is a reason why Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is using him as Ghost Rider!

In a recent interview with Comic Book, Loeb at first reveals that he's "incredibly" excited about introducing Robbie Reyes and his 1969 black Charger into the ABC series. According to him, that car is "unbelievably cool".

He is also excited about landing Matador star Gabriel Luna as Ghost Rider, as he believes that he is "an extremely talented actor". He further promises the upcoming Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season is going to be "a hell of a season". The EP then explains about choosing this particular version of the Ghost Rider:

We picked Robbie, actually, because our show, at the end of day, is always about family, and the fact that Robbie's relationship with Gabe [Robbie's developmentally disabled brother] is so much a part of his character, and the world of east LA, which is not a place that we've ever gone to in the Marvel universe, was just a really exciting way.

Don't know how many will be convinced by this explanation! You can check out the interview video below!
