The upcoming Power Rangers movie might have pushed back its release date, but its development hasn't faltered. We can be sure about that, because the Saban-Lionsgate venture has recently added Elizabeth Banks to its cast roster! The actress, who portrayed Betty Brant in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, has sealed a deal to play a villainous role in the March 24, 2017 release.
The Hollywood Reporter confirms that the 41-year-old actress will play the iconic supervillain Rita Repulsa in the Power Rangers movie. Rita is an alien witch who desires to invade our planet. The character first appeared in the popular 1993 television series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and is based on the KyÅryÅ« Sentai Zyuranger baddie Witch Bandora.
The Power Rangers movie had confirmed who would fill all of its main superhero roles by the end of October 2015. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl star RJ Cyler, singer-actress Becky G, and The Martian star Naomi Scott will play the Blue Ranger, the Yellow Ranger, and the Pink Ranger, respectively. Newcomers Ludi Lin and Dacre Montgomery will portray the Black Ranger and the Red Ranger in the reboot.

The filming of the Power Rangers movie is scheduled to kick off later this month, and the actress cast as the Yellow Ranger has already started her preparations to earn the status. The Shower singer has recently been sharing videos of her gym workouts via her Instagram account. She looks serious enough, practicing kicks and martial arts moves with the help of an instructor.
