Elektra in Daredevil – Showrunner Responds to Frank Miller’s Flak!

Elektra in Daredevil Season 2

Back in 2003, Elektra Natchios made her live-action cinematic debut in the Ben Affleck starrer Daredevil. Jennifer Garner portrayed the character in the movie and in a standalone spin-off sequel in 2005. In the upcoming second season of Marvel's Daredevil, Elektra will be re-introduced to the live-action audience. This time around, French actress Elodie Yung will portray the character.

But Frank Miller, the creator of the character, stated around a month ago that the character they are introducing in the Netflix series isn't going to be "˜the real Elektra'! The man who claims to be "˜her father' hasn't even seen the second season of Daredevil, and not even the first one. To be frank with Frank Miller, his criticism doesn't carry a lot of weight for the fact that he made it before even watching the series! He’s behaving like a possessive daddy!

Doug Petrie, one of the showrunners of Daredevil Season 2, has finally responded to Miller's flak! However, he hasn't been as blunt as Elektra's DADDY was! Doug said to Entertainment Weekly:

"God bless him, it's his prerogative. I'm a huge fan of what he did, so the [criticism] doesn't go both ways. I wouldn't say, "˜What does Frank Miller know?' I'm so inspired by him and what he achieved and I'm trying to take it further and enrich her.

The showrunner concluded by saying that Elektra is "˜an empowered woman with her own agency' and "˜nobody's victim'.

Marvel TV's EVP: Elektra will Break your Heart!

You will fall in love with her and she will break your heart!

Meanwhile, in a recent interview with ComicBook, Jeph Loeb, the Executive Vice President of Marvel TV, had something to promise about Elodie Yung's character in Daredevil Season 2. He said:

"You will fall in love with Elodie Yung as Elektra, and she will break your heart, because that’s what Elektra does to people.

The Marvel TV EVP also had something good to say about the other exciting addition to the Netflix series - Jon Bernthal's Punisher. He claimed:

"Jon Bernthal has succeeded in his quest. His Punisher is extraordinarily memorable, in every way.

Loeb commented that the Punisher’s arrival and Elektra’s return create "˜enormous division' in Matt Murdock's life in the upcoming season. And he apologized in advance to the employers around the world for the fact that "˜an awful lot of people' will take a leave on Friday, March 18, to watch Daredevil Season 2 on Netflix! What confidence!

Do you agree with Frank Miller on Elektra of Daredevil Season 2? Or, are you so damn excited about Elodie Yung's new character? Share via comments!
