While today has seen the release of the first Captain America: Civil War trailer, Marvel hasn't forgotten about its other projects - namely Doctor Strange. Thus, the studio has officially announced that the production has started, together with the official cast, the first short synopsis, as well as locations where the movie will be shot.

Though it is no surprise to hear that the production has started - from Nepal, we have already seen plenty of leaked pictures, with both Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo. What surprises instead is the official cast announcement.

Sure enough, there are actors about whom we already know to appear in the flick - obviously, Cumberbatch and Ejiofor are two of them, with Tilda Swinton playing the Ancient One, the mentor of Stephen Strange. The announcement also mentions actors in undisclosed roles - Rachel McAdams (who is the female lead, rumored to be Clea, the niece of Dormammu) and Michael Stuhlbarg (who is rumored to portray Dr. Nicodemus West, who operated Strange after his car accident).

The most interesting reveal is that Mads Mikkelsen was also cast, as many of the rumors said. Of course, the character he plays in Doctor Strange is still unrevealed - but given his track record, we can expect for him to be the greater villain (greater than Baron Mordo, that is), most likely Dormammu himself (which would make sense if McAdams portrays Clea).

As far as the shooting locations are concerned, Doctor Strange will be filmed in London and Nepal (as we already knew), but also in Hong Kong and New York - the latter being where Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum can be found (the rumor is that the same location will be used for Netflix's Iron Fist).
