While most of the fans did believe that David Ayer's Suicide Squad would be a hit with the critics, it isn't so. As it appears, and as far as Rotten Tomatoes is concerned, David Ayer's flick may end up even lower than Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Sorry, but this will be the comparison to be made as long as Warner Bros. keeps failing to find the right path towards bringing superheroes/supervillains to life.
So the early reviews are mixed towards negative. David Ayer didn't wait too long after the first reviews arrived to respond on his Twitter page with a quote from Mexican revolutionary Emiliano Zapata Salazar: "I'd prefer to die standing, than to live on my knees." Of course, many have said that making movies cannot be compared with fighting for what's right - to which the director replied on Twitter again:

But, returning to the initial tweet, did David Ayer really do his best? Suicide Squad, as many believed, was Warner Bros. and DC’s next chance of making a good movie. And the director, known for his anti-heroes, was the best choice to be made.
However, as many of the critics have said, Suicide Squad barely resembles a David Ayer movie. It left aside the anti-heroes for which he is known. It left aside the grittiness of his previous creations, which would have been perfect in the Zack Snyder DCEU. As Rolling Stone notes, the director sold his soul and traded everything that he is for PG-13 action and larger audiences.
We do believe that he is not to blame for this, though. Those reshoots after Batman v Superman was released seem to have ruined the movie.
And to think that Fury and End of Watch were praised and made quite a few bucks with an R-rating"¦
So did David Ayer die standing as soon as Suicide Squad's reviews were released? According to the reviews, he didn't.
But we'll make up our minds. Won't we?
