This year, between the 14^th and the 16^th of August, Disney held the D23 expo. Why is it so important? Because it was now when the fans had their first look at Captain America: Civil War, as well as the first concept art for Doctor Strange.

So yes, it was pretty exciting for those who were present at the panels - and, apparently, just for them, because nothing that was released at the D23 expo made it online. However, if you are looking for descriptions of everything that has happened, as well as for some news, check it out in here!

Civil War D23 footage description

First things first: D23 expo brought the first footage from Captain America: Civil War. Obviously, there wasn't too much to show. And there was no Spider-Man anywhere to be seen. But there were some awesome lines from the characters, as well, as some actions sequences.

Thus, the footage opens with Falcon, Black Widow, and Captain America taking on Crossbones. The villain says to Steve Rogers that the Winter Soldier regained his memory. William Hurt as General Ross talks with Captain America, telling him that the people don't know what to make of him: is he a hero, or a vigilante?

Scarlet Witch is also presented, in the same crowded setting in which the initial team fights Crossbones (and which is also believed to trigger the need for a Registration Act). Black Panther is also showed in full costume (which is said to resemble the concept art revealed by Kevin Feige last year), as well as Iron Man and War Machine, standing side by side.

There was no Vision in the D23 expo - however, there were to apparently hilarious scenes. In the first one, Black Widow fights Hawkeye - she asks if they are still friends, while he answers that it all depends on how hard he is hit.

The second one is with Ant-Man and Captain America. After waking up, Ant-Man meets the Captain and says, "thanks for thanking me"¦ thinking of me".

The Winter Soldier also appeared in the footage, saving a severely wounded Captain America from drowning (for more footage descriptions, from various sources, click this link!)

Falcon

The D23 convention made it clear that Captain America won't be all alone in his fight. Instead, he will also be helped by Falcon, at first, and then by the others.

But Falcon's role is much more important than previously believed. He won't just fight alongside Steve Rogers, but he will also be the one to actually find the Winter Soldier. It wasn't so clear in the post-credits scene from Ant-Man, but the D23 expo shed some light on this issue.

But this isn't all - who knows what events happened between the time when HYDRA took over SHIELD in Captain America 2 and now? The bond between Captain America and Falcon must have gotten really strong.

Furthermore, since Falcon is an essential part of the New Avengers (in the comics, at least), we can expect to see a lot more of Anthony Mackie in the MCU.

Ant-Man

In the D23 footage, the miniscule superhero is sleeping in his van when awakened by Captain America. But what will be his role in the events of the Civil War?

Given the fact that he is such a skilled thief, it can be assumed that his role won't be so much different than the one in this year's solo movie. The post-credits scene of Ant-Man showed Captain America and Falcon, in a dark basement, where the Winter Soldier is trapped.

We can assume that they will ask Ant-Man for his help when it comes to extracting the former assassin. Able to operate under any radar, the miniscule superhero is the best asset when it comes to these types of jobs.

It can also be assumed that this whole scene takes places after the Registration Act was signed.

Doctor Strange

Even at this moment, little is known about Doctor Strange. However, the D23 expo did show the first concept art for the movie.

While we couldn't find even a leaked version of it, it sounds very interesting. As far as the hero's look is concerned, he will stick very closely to the comic books: grey temples, traditional outfit, and red cape. This isn't all - the concept art featured, levitating cars, buildings turned over just like in Inception (though, not exactly like in that movie).

And we also heard that The Ancient One is a woman, even if Tilda Swinton said that she hasn't decided yet what gender she will portray. Sounds weird - weird like Doctor Strange promises to be.

It is expected for the movie to be more like Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor, rather than like any other Marvel production.

Doctor Strange concept art reception

As said, this all sounds very interesting to us, especially if we add what Benedict Cumberbatch said: He's an extraordinary character and brings in a whole other dimension"¦ hmmm"¦ MULTIPLE dimensions to the Marvel universe.

However, the D23 expo attendees also believe that maybe, just maybe, Marvel shouldn't have drawn such heavy inspiration from the Nolan film.
