While many people thought that X-Men: Apocalypse was a huge letdown, Sophie Turner's take on Jean Grey wasn’t the problem. If you loved watching the Game of Thrones star play the mutant, the good news is that she’s confirmed her return to the role in the next X-Men movie.
On the BAFTA Awards 2017 red carpet, Hey U Guys asked Turner what projects she’d be working on next. In response, the British actress revealed that she had recently completed filming for the seventh season of Game of Thrones, and would film her parts for a couple of other projects before the seventh X-Men installment kicks off production.
We're about to start shooting the next X-Men. We've just finished shooting Season 7 of (Game of) Thrones, and I've got a couple of movies to do before X-Men starts. And then we go on to Season 8. So I’ve got a busy year lined up.
We’ve heard a couple of rumors about the new X-Men movie over the past few weeks. One rumor suggested that cameras would start rolling this May under the working title X-Men: Supernova. But that seems hard to swallow, since 20th Century Fox hasn’t even announced a director for the project.
Sophie Turner suggested that production will commence soon, but she also mentioned that she would be working on multiple projects before it starts. And we should note that the 20-year-old actress is actually the first person connected with the project to confirm that it still exists! Yes, producer/writer Simon Kinberg talked about it, but that was way back in May 2016.
Rumor has it that the new X-Men movie will be a more accurate adaptation of Chris Claremont's Dark Phoenix Saga than the previous one, Brett Ratner's X-Men: The Last Stand (sorry for reminding you of its existence)! We even came across an unofficial synopsis for the project last week.
