Non-Stop Spider-Man Series Announced by Marvel

Spider-Man is getting a new comic book series. As announced by Marvel at ComicsPro in Portland, Oregon, the webslinger will headline a new series titled Non-Stop Spider-Man. It comes from the minds of writer Joe Kelly and artist Chris Bachalo. By the sound of things, it’s going to be an action-packed ride.

“[Editor] Nick Lowe has a super-power. He picks up the phone, calls me, and says the exact combination of words that make me want to drop everything and dive head first into the Marvel Universe. Last time it was Spider-Man, Deadpool, Ed McGuinness. No brainer, YES,” Kelly said. “This time it was Spider-Man, Non-Stop, Chris Bachalo. Again, YES…but ‘Non-stop?’”

Marvel describes the book as an ongoing series, which means it won’t be a limited run. They intend for this one to run a bit. What will help set it apart from The Amazing Spider-Man and other Spidey-centric titles in the lineup? A brief description of the book was provided, which hints that they’re going for the thrillseekers with this one.

NON-STOP SPIDER-MAN will combine the pulse-pounding action Spidey is known for with even MORE pulse-pounding action! Prepare for the comic book ride of your life featuring Spidey’s best villains and his most amazing feats!”

There are certainly a few characters in the Marvel Comics canon that can carry a few ongoing titles at once, and Spider-Man is one of them. At the height of the character’s popularity in the 90s, Spidey had an abundance of books bearing his name. Unfortunately, for the time being, they’re opting not to say too much about this one just yet.

NON-STOP SPIDER-MAN is, for me, the best of what Marvel comics can be: relentless action, epic storytelling, mind-melting art, and relevant themes, all grounded by the heart and soul of one of my all-time favorite characters, Spider-Man,” Kelly said. “Chris and I want to redline your adrenaline and shatter your hearts, giggling the whole time. Please sign your waivers and gather your safety gear of choice before issue #1 comes out. I truly can’t wait for this. Buckle up, Tigers.”

Some cover art has been revealed which speaks to the pulse-pounding promises. We see Spider-Man swinging through the city with a barrage of missiles chasing right after him. It’s going to be an explosive adventure, one might say. Where, precisely, those missiles are coming from remains to be seen.

Non-Stop Spider-Man is set to hit shelves in June.
