Marvel is bringing us a seemingly unlikely team up this summer. The publisher has announced Ms. Marvel & Wolverine, a new one-shot comic set to hit stands in July. As the title implies, it will team Kamala Khan with the fan-favorite mutant for a new adventure. Ms. Marvel & Wolverine #1 is written by Jody Houser with art by Ze Carlos. According to Marvel, this is just the first in a series of oversized one-shots that will see Kamala Khan teaming up with the likes of Moon Knight and Venom as well in the coming months. Houser will be penning those issues as well.
“I’m thrilled to be back playing in the Marvel super hero sandbox, especially with a character at vital as Ms. Marvel,” Houser said. “Teaming her up with some of the darker heroes of the 616 shows just how bright her light really is.”
Here is the synopsis for Ms. Marvel & Wolverine #1.
“When a mysterious threat lands in New York City, Ms. Marvel takes matters into her own embiggened hands – but with Krakoan security/tech compromised, you can bet Wolverine and the X-Men won’t be far behind. The best there is at what he does teams up with one of the Marvel Universe’s most lauded heroes in an action-packed adventure for the ages!”
Marvel Comics Editor Mark Basso had this to say about it.
“Ms. Marvel is such a powerful and versatile member of the MU, and putting her in a huge scale adventure shoulder to shoulder with harder-edged heroes like Venom, Moon Knight, and Wolverine is going to maybe surprise some readers with her range. If you missed her earlier adventures, know this: Kamala Khan is a super hero. Full stop. And when you get her in the mix with a crew like this, you know something BIG is going down.”
This comes just as Ms. Marvel is getting ready to arrive on Disney+ on June 8. That will give the hero a gigantic boost as she will officially be a part of the MCU. What’s more, Iman Vellani is playing the character and will also be featured in next year’s The Mavels. That movie serves as a sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel, with Vellani starring alongside Brie Larson. With that in mind, it’s no surprise that Marvel is kicking off this new series timed around the release of the show.
Ms. Marvel & Wolverine #1 hits stands on July 13.
