Get ready to welcome the popular Marvel Comics' Cloak and Dagger to the Marvel Cinematic Universe! The superhero duo will arrive with their very own live-action series on Disney–ABC-owned Freeform and Marvel has confirmed it officially! Marvel Television head honcho Jeph Loeb, who will also serve as the executive producer of the series, says:
We are thrilled to be able to explore another corner of the Marvel Universe with Cloak and Dagger. We want to thank Tandy and Tyrone’s fans everywhere who have been waiting for this exciting news.
It was during San Diego Comic-Con International 2011 when Jeph Loeb first revealed that a Cloak and Dagger series is in development. So, it's taken a pretty long time to finally get the GOOD NEWS!
According to the official description, Cloak and Dagger follows "Tandy Bowen and Tyronne Johnson, two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened by and awakened to newly acquired super powers while falling in love". While Tandy is capable of emitting "light daggers", Tyrone can "engulf others in darkness". The two learn in no time that they are better together than apart. However, the feelings they have for each other "make their already complicated world even challenging".
Cloak and Dagger were created by Bill Mantlo and Ed Hannigan back in March 1982. They were introduced in Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man #64 issue. The duo made guest appearances in Spider-Man comic book issues a few more times before getting their own four-issue limited series. Later, they also appeared in a number of X-Men comic book issues.

According to Variety, the ones who first reported the story, Marvel's Cloak and Dagger has earned a green light from Freeform with a straight-to-series order. That means it isn't going through the PILOT drama!
Their report suggests that the studio hasn't signed a writer for the series yet but they are currently searching for it. The outlet assumes that Cloak and Dagger is "a seamless fit" for Freeform as the channel's target audience is the 14-34 demo. Can't disagree with that, can you?
