Chris Pine is in talks to play Green Lantern of the DC Extended Universe - that's a rumor that prevailed for a good while. Tyrese Gibson – the actor who has been openly campaigning for the role of John Stewart - once teased the Captain Kirk of Star Trek reboot franchise as the other Green Lantern - Hal Jordan.
The rumor looked so strong that we were shocked to get the confirmation that Chris Pine has joined the DC Extended Universe as not Hal Jordan but Steve Trevor! How could he leave the opportunity to wear the ring for being in love with Diana Prince?
Well, if that's the question in your mind left unanswered, you would be glad to know that the actor himself has provided an answer to it! He was actually never approached for the other role! Here's what he said to Collider recently:
"No. I was not offered Green Lantern ever, I've never had a conversation about Green Lantern."
If Warner Bros didn't even approach Pine for the role, I wonder who they have in their minds for the role in their 2020 reboot!
Ryan Reynolds on His GREEN LANTERN Movie - Frustrating!
Ryan Reynolds was the last live-action Hal Jordan on big screen. He played the character in the disastrous 2011 flick Green Lantern. Not only was the movie a frustrating experience for the fans, but also for the actor.
Yes, that's what the actor has recently called the production of the movie - "˜FRUSTRATING'! He explained (via ComicBook):
"It was a slightly terrifying place to be. You really need a visionary behind a movie like that, but it was the classic studio story: ‘We have a poster, but we don’t have a script! Let’s start shooting!"
"˜Please don't make the super suit green, or animated!' We've heard Ryan Reynolds say that in the first set of Deadpool trailers. But the Canadian actor doesn't regret playing Green Lantern! Why?
Because that movie allowed him to meet Blake Lively - the woman he married the very next year! She played Carol Ferris in the movie.
But we really wish that the next Green Lantern actors won't regret signing for the role only because the movie did great! Share your thoughts via comments!
