During an interview with IGN while promoting The Accountant, Ben Affleck talked about The Batman, as well (as it always happens with the actors involved in comic book movies). With him was Anna Kendrick, with whom he played a funny sketch about the actress becoming the next Robin. The interview touched on a couple of other subjects, including other Accountant co-stars.
The movie features a fight between Jon Bernthal and Affleck - as it was revealed, leaving aside the sarcasm of the interviewers, Affleck is a fan of Netflix's Daredevil. So, when asked about this fight between the Punisher and himself, the actor said that Bernthal pulls no punches.
The actor also said that he is now working on the Batman solo movie script and trying to give it his best - because, as he said, one can’t fail quietly when making a Batman flick:
Last night I spent (time) working on the script. I'm in full-on “trying to get it right mode”. It's not the kind of movie that you can fail quietly at. You have to really be sure that I have something that I feel really confident about before we go forward.
Lastly, Anna Kendrick was once again asked if she'd be interested in the role of Barbara Gordon - to which Affleck replied that she'll get the role as soon as he starts singing in movies (the comedic sketch included Affleck daydreaming about being in the Pitch Perfect movies).

Obviously, we still don't know when The Batman will be released, but it seems unlikely that 2018 will be the year. Who knows? But until then, we'll definitely hear something other than jokes about Robin, Batgirl, or Barbara Gordon.
