Remember when Ben Affleck said that Batman v Superman was way better than Daredevil? If not, then you certainly know about the sad Affleck meme - poor guy was completely let down by the final product, considered by so many to be too confusing. But, nonetheless, the future may be brighter for this character (as well as the actor/director's expectations).
Zack Snyder will return to direct the first Justice League film; and Ben Affleck will write, direct, and star in the first Batman solo flick of the DCEU. However, the latter will also act as an executive producer from here on, bringing his own invaluable experience off-camera into the shared universe. And, seeing that all of the movies Ben Affleck directed and produced have won critical acclaim"¦
The Deadline website broke the news, and also reported that Ben Affleck's role wasn't upgraded just because Zack Snyder made a mess out of Batman v Superman (let's be honest about it). Instead, it is to support the Sucker Punch director, with whom Affleck worked very well for this year's big DCEU event.
Since the actor praised the movie before its release, only to end up extremely disappointed, it isn't too hard to assume that Warner Bros. is looking for a way out of the dark, gritty, and (most of the time) inconsistent shared universe. And Ben Affleck has the necessary experience - do you actually believe that the Argo star is there just to assist with writing and (more importantly) cutting the final product?!?
Yeah, we don't either. Zack Snyder is great when it comes to the visuals - but his way of approaching a story isn't exactly the best in the business. So this is great news then!
