Avengers: Endgame Being Re-Released With New Post-Credit Footage

endgame bonus

Marvel fans have reasons to celebrate, as Avengers: Endgame is going to be re-released in theaters with additional footage. To be clear right up top, this isn't going to be a longer cut of the already three-hour movie. Instead, Marvel Studios is attaching some additional post-credit goods.

Speaking with Comicbook.com, Kevin Feige said “We are doing that. I don’t know if it’s been announced. And I don’t know how much… Yeah, we’re doing it next weekend.” In a different interview with Screen Rant, the Marvel boss clarified that it's “Not an extended cut, but there will be a version going into theaters with a bit of a marketing push with a few new things at the end of the movie,” Feige said. “If you stay and watch the movie, after the credits, there'll be a deleted scene, a little tribute, and a few surprises. Which will be next weekend.”

So what can fans expect from this additional footage? We could get some sort of tease about the future of the MCU, but don't expect too much, as it's already been revealed that Marvel Studios will be returning to Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con this year, after skipping out in 2018. The footage, in total, is said to run about six minutes.

There has been a great deal of chatter online suggesting that this move is intended to help director Joe and Anthony Russo's Avengers: Endgame get closer to the all-time box office record, which is currently held by James Cameron's 2009 sci-fi epic Avatar. As it stands, Endgame has earned $2.744 billion globally. Avatar, meanwhile, has a grand total of $2.78 billion.

In all likelihood, this move is actually going to be more about giving Spider-Man: Far From Home, which is set to hit theaters on July 2, a bit of a final push. It's extremely probably that a tease for Tom Holland's upcoming solo adventure will be attached to the end of Avengers: Endgame as part of this additional six minutes of footage.

Whether or not this is about beating Avatar, it's unlikely this re-release will generate enough buzz to bring in an additional $36 million or so needed to cross that threshold.

We would expect Marvel to release a trailer, sooner rather than later, hyping up the re-release. So be sure to keep your eyes peeled for that.
