Heroes Killed During Infinity War May Stay Dead in Avengers 4!

Readers, be warned! This article contains MAJOR SPOILERS for both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4!!

Even those who haven’t seen Avengers: Infinity War are probably aware that things don’t go very well for our heroes in the movie. From beginning to end - and even in the post-credits scene - heroes bite the dust, one after the other.

Infinity War opens as Thanos finishes off both Loki and Heimdall. He later sacrifices his adopted daughter Gamora by throwing her over a cliff in some sort of deal to obtain the Soul Stone. As the movie moves toward its conclusion, the Mad Titan crushes Vision’s skull to get to the Mind Stone, thus accomplishing his mission of owning all six of the Infinity Stones. Finally, he wipes out half of humanity, along with Spider-Man, Black Panther, Doctor StrangeStar-Lord, and a number of additional heroes.

Marvel Cinematic Universe fans know that death is never permanent, especially for good guys. So, it's not surprising that many believe that heroes who perished in Infinity War will somehow be brought back to life in Avengers 4.

Nevertheless, screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely recently told BuzzFeed that such expectations might be off the mark.

doesn’t do what you think it does. It is a different movie than you think it is. Also… real. I just want to tell you it’s real, and the sooner you accept that, the sooner you will be able to move on to the next stage of grief.

McFeely: Put it this way. I think is a fairly mature movie for a blockbuster. It’s got a lot of fun in it, obviously, but boy, it gets very mature. The second one is also mature. We’re going to own these choices, and hopefully surprise and delight you and get you invested…

Markus: We broke your heart. Now we're going to blow your mind!

On the other hand, Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo were coy about the heroes' fate during a recent conversation with wtop. When the topic came up, Anthony just grinned and said, "We can’t comment on that."
