Aquaman: Shooting has Officially Begun

DCEU productions have experienced all sorts of problems along the way, but it’s been smooth sailing for Aquaman since James Wan took over as director, although the production may be the most complex challenge of his career. At the same time, Jason Momoa has taken every opportunity to hype the movie and heap praise on his co-stars and the studio for letting him bring Arthur Curry to life for the first time.

Momoa had a brief cameo as Aquaman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but the fans weren’t terribly impressed. However, the aquatic superhero apparently has a much bigger role in this year's Justice League. In fact, he seems to be the movie’s breakthrough star. And Momoa’s having a lot of fun in the process.

So we weren’t surprised when James Wan tweeted today that filming for Aquaman has officially begun at the movie’s Australian location.

Ahab, the film’s working title, is clearly visible. Also, the pic was obviously taken in a submarine, and that might reveal something about the movie’s plot.

Besides the lack of production hiccups, Aquaman differentiates itself from the other DC Extended Universe movies simply because it doesn't take place on Earth, so to speak. This means the events of the upcoming Justice League movie will be shown from a different perspective when Aquaman is released on December 21, 2018.
