Superman and the Mole Men of 1951 was the first live-action theatrical feature film based on the Kryptonian superhero and George Reeves was the first actor to play him on big-screen. And, we all know who's playing the latest version of Clark Kent "“ Henry Cavill of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). Cavill made his debut in 2013 as Superman in the Zack Snyder flick Man of Steel and will reprise the role in next year's Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, the two Justice League movies of following years and perhaps a bunch more DCEU ventures.

Between George Reeves and Henry Cavill, two other actors too have played the most popular superhero of all-time. Back in the late 1970s and throughout 1980s, Christopher Reeve played Clark Kent in a bunch of movies. After around nineteen years of absence on the silver screen, the superhero returned with Bryan Singer's Superman Returns which featured Brandon Routh in the titular role.

So, there've been just four different actors who played the DC superhero in its six and a half decades of survival on the big-screen. But you might not know that there've been a whole lot of other actors who were considered for the role over the years. Around a couple of hundred actors were auditioned for the Salkinds' Superman movie alone!
