Deadpool hits theaters February 12, 2016. And while Tim Miller's venture equals the first solo outing of Marvel's Merc with a Mouth, it might just as well be Ryan Reynolds' last act as a superhero.
The news is, indeed, a bit surprising, given the Canadian actor went beyond and above to promote the movie, basically replacing the nonexistent marketing campaign for Deadpool.
But at the same time, let's remember he's played a bunch of superhero roles, starring in Blade Trinity, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Green Lantern and R.I.P.D.
This is not necessarily bad news: Ryan Reynolds seems to be willing to reprise his role as Deadpool, but he'd definitely not play another superhero.

Reynolds considers a Deadpool sequel
Reynolds can boast some serious experience under the belt: Hannibal King, Hal Jordan and Nick are the roles that turned him into a sort of comic book movies MVP.
Of course, without mentioning Wade Wilson, the part initially played in Wolverine and reprised in next year's Deadpool. But, as Reynolds confessed to Huffington Post, he'd never return to his pre-Deadpool roles.
"We all want to be Batman alone at home in our specifically-sewn Bat pajammies, but no, I have no desire to play any other superheroes after this," says Reynolds. And adds:
"Hopefully we’ll get to do ‘Deadpool’ again. Given the fact that it’s rated R, the fans have to show their support for it, and they have to come out and make it worthwhile for the studio to make another one, but that’s it for me. I’ve punched that superhero card a few times now, and that’s enough."
