Falcon is likely to be the next Captain America in the MCU subsequently to Civil War. But he's not the only contender to this title: the Winter Soldier might just as well get his hands on the leadership of the Avengers once Steve Rogers steps off the stage.
However, Bucky Barnes has some serious ledger cleaning to do: he'll have to find a way to get over having fought against lifelong friend and having been brainwashed into becoming a Hydra assassin.
So, odds favor Falcon. All the more there's one connection he'll possibly establish with another key player of the Marvel universe: Ant-Man.
A month ago Empire inquired Peyton Reed whether Falcon or another Avenger would join Ant-Man in his solo outing programmed for this year. But the director only confined to saying "That’s classified information. That’s buried. It’s possible" (via Comic Book Movie).
Now the rumor relapsed. And comes with another speculation in tail: Marvel's shrinking hero might fight Falcon (or whoever other fellow Avenger might hold a cameo in Peyton Reed's adaptation).
