Ant-Man and the Wasp Drops Hints about Phase IV

On top of being one of Marvel’s most entertaining sequels, Ant-Man and the Wasp reveals some clues about the role of time-travel in Avengers 4.

And, as previously teased, the movie’s Quantum Realm scenes also contain some interesting hints about the MCU’s Phase IV and the possible introduction of X-Men and Fantastic Four. The comics’ Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver already joined the shared universe, but they haven’t been explicitly tagged as mutants.

Evolution (Marvel Studios)

Returning to Ant-Man and the Wasp, the original Wasp has returned from the Quantum Realm with some new powers. Although we’re not clear yet on the extent of those powers, Janet says that her time in the Quantum Realm changed her. She adds that she not only adapted to her new environment, she evolved while she was there. And we know that mutants represent the next evolutionary step.

The addition of layers to the Quantum Realm may also serve to open the way for the Fantastic Four to enter the MCU. Ant-Man and the Wasp reveals that the Void – the place that Ant-Man visited in the first movie – was just a small part of a greater whole. Fans have speculated that Quantum Void is just another name for the Negative Zone.

Both Peyton Reed and Kevin Feige said that there clues to the future of the MCU in Ant-Man and the Wasp’s Quantum Realm scenes. What are your thoughts?

Beyond the Quantum Void (Marvel Studios)

Since Ant-Man and the Wasp landed in theaters on July 6, it’s brought in $161 million worldwide.
