Deadpool 2: New Look at Cable!

After we learned that Zazie Beetz had signed on as Domino, Deadpool fans knew that Cable was coming. And he was, in two glorious pics that revealed that the character will stay as true to his comic book counterpart as possible. One shot was of Josh Brolin in Cable’s full costume. It also provided a hint about his reasons for time-traveling into Deadpool's past.

Although nothing’s been said about any scenes in the movie that actually deal with time travel, Cable is indeed a character from the future.

But the latest pic from Deadpool 2 might have revealed just that. We’ll catch at least a glimpse of him in his original timeline, whenever that might be. First posted by Universo X-Men, the pic shows a Cable who hasn't been fully infected by the techno-organic virus. So it might also reveal that some changes have been made to his origin story.

Check it out below:

As you can see, Cable's trademark glowing red eye is missing, although it’s clear that the virus is making its way upward (check out his neck). In the comics, Cable was infected as a child, but it appears that the movie version of the character will be older when he actually begins to change.

Of course, it could be that the set pic is just a set pic, and the glowing red eye will be added during post-production. However, changing his rather confusing backstory (which involves time travel into the future to keep the infection from spreading) could be a smart move, especially since it wouldn't necessarily require all the other X-Men connections that are clearly missing from the main X-Men timeline.

Deadpool 2 will be released on June 1, 2018, so there’s plenty of time for additional details to come to light.
